"Xcel Energy is committed to safely and reliably powering our customers with the carbon-free electricity that nuclear energy provides. On the morning of March 19, a problem with a control valve at our Monticello Nuclear Plant led the system to automatically take the reactor offline, safely shutting it down as it is designed to do. Our nuclear team is taking the necessary steps to bring the plant back to full operations, which we expect to be complete by the end of the week. We do not expect any impact to customers’ electric service during this time.”
