City Council Highlights December 8, 2025

The City Council held a regular meeting on Monday, December 8. Here are the highlights:

  • Public Works Facility: City Council is seeking a cost-saving redesign of the new Public Works Facility, with updated plans expected in spring 2026. 
  • Final Property Tax Levy: Following updated tax base information, the City Council adopted a 7.0% combined City and HRA levy, with a higher valuation for Xcel reducing the impact on local taxpayers. 
  • BCOL Regional Park Agreements: The City of Monticello and Wright County have updated agreements to better define each partner’s role in managing the jointly owned regional park, ensuring a balanced approach to active and passive recreation.

Press Release: City Council Approves 2025 Budget and Property Tax Levy

Monticello, MN – On Monday, December 9, the City Council approved the 2025 property tax levy and budget during its regular meeting. The meeting included a public hearing to allow stakeholder feedback before the mayor and council members voted on the items.
