The City Council held a regular meeting on Monday, September 8. Here are the highlights:

    • Monticello Heritage Days: The City received a $5,000 grant from the Initiative Foundation to launch a new event celebrating Monticello’s logging history, to coincide with Walk n Roll 2026.
    • Wendy’s Development Update: The City Council approved a one-year extension for Wendy’s at 261 Highland Way (near Home Depot). Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026.
    • E-Bike Ordinance Amendment: An ordinance update seeks to promote responsible e-bike use while addressing safety concerns raised by residents and the Wright County Sheriff’s Office. It clarifies e-bike classifications and restricts high-speed or non-compliant motorized bikes from trails, sidewalks, and park areas to prevent damage and improve public safety.
