City Council Highlights January 12, 2026

The City Council held a regular meeting on Monday, January 12. Here are the highlights:

  • City Appointments for 2026: Annual appointments to committees and organizations were approved, ensuring community interests are represented in regional initiatives. Council Liaisons were also appointed to boards to act as a direct link between the Council and each group.
  • Monticello Library Improvements: The City Council approved plans and bidding for improvements at the Monticello Public Library, including ADA and parking lot improvements. A $500,000 state grant will fully fund the project. Work will be done in sections over an estimated 21 days, with completion targeted for August 2026. The Monticello Farmers Market will be temporarily relocated nearby.
  • Review of Land Use Guidance for Proposed Scannell Properties, LLC, Data Center site: The City Council requested a staff analysis and public hearing on potential land use changes for parcels guided as Light Industrial Park site near the Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park.
