Boards & Commissions
Monticello has a variety of boards, committees, and groups that serve the city. Depending on the board, members may be elected, appointed, or volunteer to serve. Although these boards have different roles, they all work to achieve the ultimate goal and vision of the city of Monticello, as described in our Comprehensive Plan.
Currently, the citizens and businesses of the Monticello area represented by the following boards or commissions:

Bertram Chain of Lakes Advisory Council
The Advisory Council studies how the Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park is used and managed, to ensure it meets the needs of residents and visitors.

Economic Development Authority
The Monticello Economic Development Authority sets goals and objectives to attract higher wage level jobs and expand the city tax base.

Industrial & Economic Development Committee
The Monticello IEDC will advocate for industrial and economic growth within the city of Monticello by promoting awareness and communication efforts on behalf of the business community.

Library Board
The Monticello Library Board is dedicated to fostering a library environment that enriches the community through resources, programs, and services.

Parks, Arts & Recreation Commission
The Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission develops and reviews plans for the acquisition and development of parks and recreational facilities, develops recreation programs, reviews parkland dedications for new subdivisions and makes recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission reviews development plans and advises the City Council on all development, including amendments to the comprehensive plan, zoning, platting, variances and other land use issues.
